Thursday, March 20:
  • portfolios due
  • mid-term examination

Friday, March 21 (beginning at 3:00 p.m.) - Sunday, March 30: Spring Break!!!

Week 8--

Monday, March 31:

What we'll do:

  • Updates on syllabus/get focused for second half of semester
  • Discuss roles and responsibilities for book clubs
  • Examine the k - 5 Social Studies Curriculum (bring your SCOS binders)
  • Attend special session with Katie Nash, Belk Library's Archivist (12:00 - 1:10)

Tuesday, April 1:

What's due: lesson plans and reflections (place all lesson plans in the order in which they were taught. Include rubrics you developed, worksheets, samples of student work--if you can, etc.)

Readings: Chapter 1, Johnson (social studies text)

What we'll do:

  • Go over language arts mid-term exam
  • What Is Social Studies?
  • Examine the Live Text Unit Plan

Wednesday, April 2 - Friday, April 4: Internship (6 - 8 hours this week)

Week of March 3 - 7

Week Five--
Be sure to discuss with your CT your new schedule for practicum. Let them know when you and your partner will complete your 6 - 8 hours each week.

Also, make sure to schedule your CT conference for after the Writing Test. Finalize what you will be teaching during your five days of writing instruction. Include the conference documentation sheet (located on Bb) in your portfolios and add to your Table of Contents page. Remember to have your CT sign the form after you have completed it and before you place it in your portfolios (it can be handwritten).

Monday, March 3:
Last day of writing tutoring--nice work!

Class @ Smith (11:45 - 1:10)
  • be able to access a digital copy of the rubric you created in Rubi-Star. We will share these in class. Also, add your created rubric to your portfolio.
  • Chapter 8--Expository Writing
  • begin discussion of lesson plans
  • complete mini-lesson discussion

Tuesday, March 4:

Class @ Elon (10:50 - 1:10)

  • Chapter 12--Persuasive Writing
  • Introduction to Live Text Lesson Plan
  • discussion of NCRA for next week (Tuesday, March 11)
  • Constructivist lesson (from earlier in the semester)
  • sign-up for a Monday meeting (March 10) with Dr. Mihans

Wednesday, March 5 - Friday, March 7: Practicum hours (6 - 8 hours this week).
