  • Last class...Geography and Map Skills Activities (have a copy for each student, place one copy in your portfolio)...also, write a brief, confidential note to me on both you and your partner's efforts on this assignment

Week of March 3 - 7

Week Five--
Be sure to discuss with your CT your new schedule for practicum. Let them know when you and your partner will complete your 6 - 8 hours each week.

Also, make sure to schedule your CT conference for after the Writing Test. Finalize what you will be teaching during your five days of writing instruction. Include the conference documentation sheet (located on Bb) in your portfolios and add to your Table of Contents page. Remember to have your CT sign the form after you have completed it and before you place it in your portfolios (it can be handwritten).

Monday, March 3:
Last day of writing tutoring--nice work!

  • be able to access a digital copy of the rubric you created in Rubi-Star. We will share these in class. Also, add your created rubric to your portfolio.

Week of 2/25 - 2/29

Dear Class,
I have added and included some of my own notes (PPs) from selected chapters on Bb. Since there will not be time to cover all of these in detail, please read the notes (along with their associated chapters--assigned from the syllabus) and let me know if you have any questions.

For the most part, the chapters that cover the genres of writing a pretty self-explanatory. They provide tips/ideas for teaching a particular genre. Remember, this information (your assigned readings) will be on the mid-term exam. Please keep up with your readings, as you will be overwhelmed as we near the mid-term. The study guide for the mid-term will be forth coming.

Here's the break down for this coming week:

Monday, February 25:
Tutoring/Writing at Smith in the morning (Katie will check-in with each of you)
11:45 - 1:10: Class @ Smith (we will complete Writer's Workshop, mini lessons, brief discussions of narrative and descriptive writing)

Tuesday, February 26:
Tutoring/Writing at Smith in the morning (Dr. Mihans will check-in with each of you)
12:00 (sharp) - 1:10: Class @ Elon (we will examine rubrics, discuss assessment techniques, continue discussions on conducting conferences--both peer and teacher--and mini-lessons)

Wednesday, February 27:
Tutoring/Writing at Smith in the morning (Katie will check-in with each of you)
Practicum hours--before, after or in between tutoring

Thursday, February 28:
